       The Carnegie Library of Monte Vista will be closed Saturday July 1, 2017 through Tuesday July 4, 2017 for the Independence Day Holiday and will reopen on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the regular hours.

       The Carnegie Library, South Fork Branch will be closed Monday July 3, 2017 and Tuesday July 4, 2017 for the Independence Day Holiday and will reopen on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the regular summer hours.

       The Carnegie Library of Monte Vista's Summer Reading Program Reading Challenge will begin on June 5, 2017. The last day to register is July 10, 2017 and the last day for prizes will be July 24, 2017. On Tuesday July 25, 2017 a drawing for a robotics building set will be held.        The Carnegie Library, South Fork Branch Summer Book Challenge will be held from June 1, 2017 to July 31, 2017 and is a way for everyone in the community to interact with the library. The library is asking for your support in helping us promote reading and learning, not to mention having some fun in the process. The book challenge will be broken down into four categories: Early Literacy (Infant, Toddler, Preschoolers, and Kindergarten), the Children’s Program (Grades 1-6), the Teen’s Program (Grades 7-12) and the Adult Program. In this way everyone has a chance to enjoy the contest, the library, and the books. Participants in each category must read at least six books but if you want to win you’ll have to read more. Each participant will have to sign up at the library to enter the contest. They can read whatever they like, fact books, joke books, picture books, audio books just as long as they borrow them from the library. At the end of the contest the contestants will hand in their reading list and the library will pick the girl and the boy with the most books read in each category and they will get a certificate and a prize.        The Carnegie Library South Fork Branch will be having their annual Summer Book Sale starting Memorial Day Monday, May 29, 2017 and it will last until Labor Day Monday, September 4, 2017. Through out this time you can you can buy a small bag for $1 and stuff it as full of books as you can or you can buy book individually with paperbacks at 0.25 cents each and hardbacks at 0.50 cents each.

        Our catalog system allows patrons to view both libraries catalogs online and allow patrons to view and work with their own accounts.         We have a nice selection of children's e-books from Unite for Literacy. These can be found by either going through our online public catalog or through the links provided here. There is no need to log in to any site for these e-books they link you directly to the book, so download a book today and enjoy!

        DVD donations needed! Help us to improve our DVD collection by donating your used DVD's that are in good condition. We do not buy our DVD's but wait for donations to come in, so please help us to give our community what it is asking for and bring in your DVD's for all to use. At your request we will put a name plate in the DVD case with your name on it showing that the DVD's were donated by you and that the library honors you for your donation to the public. Thank you for your help and support of the library.

Schedule of Events:


                             The Monte Vista Kiwanis Club meets every Wednesday afternoon at noon in the large meeting room of the Carnegie Library in Monte Vista.


        The Summer Reading Program takes place every summer at the Carnegie Library in Monte Vista on Thursdays from June to July.
        The Children’s Story Hour is every Wednesday @ 10:00 a.m. held at the Carnegie Library in Monte Vista.
